Just when you think Taylor Swift can’t possibly be more annoying….

Ugh

….i don’t want to live on this fucking planet anymore.

She hopped on the wagon too huh

Is it safe to assume she’s making fun of them in a highly distasteful way

No, it isn’t actually safe to assume that. She’s not making fun of them at all. I can see why people would assume that, but it’s not actually the case.

The premise of the video was basically to take several talented professional dance troupes of different styles and throw herself in the middle of each of their routines (basically making fun of herself and the fact that she’s known for being an awkward dancer).

Taylor actually took a lot of time beforehand to learn from each of the dance troupes, including this one, about each style of dancing and the history behind it (and after learning more about it, she made the decision not to twerk in this scene and just do her usual awkward dancing instead, even though all the other scenes feature her trying to imitate the dance styles).

She said in an interview that these dancers were amazingly talented, and that she had a lot of respect for them and for their style of dancing, and for the amount of awareness of one’s body that twerking takes.

I’m not going to say that including this scene wasn’t or was appropriative because I’m white and it’s not my place to determine that, but the scene isn’t meant to make fun of the dancers.

You guys r literally so dumb u can say whatever the shit you want to her and she’s gonna be like lmao just gonna shake it off and wipe my tears with hundred dollar bills

"A lot of people ask me, ‘How did you have the courage to walk up to record labels when you were 12 or 13 and jump right into the music industry?’ It’s because I knew I could never feel the kind of rejection that I felt in middle school. Because in the music industry, if they’re gonna say no to you, at least they’re gonna be polite about it."
